E-LEARNING A BOON OR A CURSE
In the era of blooming technology, the life of human beingshas become easier. We tend to connect to the world by sitting in home at ease via internet.there has been a rapid progress in the utility of internet in the post pandemic period where people able to buy their essentials through e-commerce, the tele-medicine has also been a life-saviour for sick people where they could access to health care by staying home.
Our education system has experienced a paradigm shift in the pandemic period, e-learning has become the new education system. With the advent of Covid-19, e-learning seems to be one of the safest and easiest ways to impart education for acquiring new skills, explore new career options, or for that matter new hobby development. From toddler to adult e-learning helps them to upgrade themselves.
Though people are habituated to e-learning there exist a skeptical thought in its efficiency.The learning from home platform has made people to select their flexible hours to listen to the lectures and the recorded videos has also been a boon as they can access them anytime, anywhere.This virtual learning has also been economical to the learners as there are less expenses compared to live-learning. it also helped the people to access global standard education where learners can learn from world’s best universities without travelling and spending much money.
Despite their positive side,there also exist a negative side which needs to be worked on. The digital divide causes a great threat to grass root learners due to their inability to access smart phones and internet. According to UNICEF around 1.6 billion children are left out of education in pandemic period. The prolonged screen time has also affected the children’s physical health causing eye problems, obesity. The virtual learning has reduced people to people interaction affecting the mental health of children. Also teens tend to have negative exposures with the usage of smart phones which disrupts their development.
As the coin has two sides, it is the responsibility of every individual to make use of the opportunity to its fullest.
